Great news for Delta Diamonds who fly Virgin Atlantic!

TPS has just learned that effective today, Delta Diamond Medallions can now redeem their global upgrade certificates for Virgin Atlantic flights that are marketed by Delta! This will cover all fares except for Basic Economy (E) fares. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that Delta now owns a 49% stake of Virgin Atlantic and is a great new perk for their top elite members.

We’re still waiting for more details on exactly which markets this will entail – but we can definitely assume that at a minimum…Atlanta/New York City – London flyers will be happy because who really has time for coach. #KeepClimbing

Update: Delta has since made it official and updated their Global Upgrade Certificates help page. Full terms:

• Valid on Delta-marketed, Virgin Atlantic-operated flights for use globally on published Economy Cabin fares booked in W, Y, B, M, S, H, Q, K, L, U, T, X or V class to Upper Class.
• Global Upgrades on Virgin Atlantic flights must be confirmed 24 hours prior to departure.
• Global Upgrade Certificates may not be used to waitlist for a Virgin Atlantic-operated flight.
